University of Benin Academic Calendar 2023/2024

 

The University of Benin academic calendar for the 2023/2024 session is out. This calendar, which is essential for both students and lecturers of the university, outlines major dates for the first and second semesters.

 

First Semester

According to the academic calendar, new students who intend to register for the 2023/2024 academic session will begin their registration process on the 18th of March, 2024. Old students of the institution are to resume for the upcoming academic year on the 21st of April, 2024.

Lectures will begin on the 22nd of April 2024, while online registration and physical clearance for new students are ongoing.

The matriculation ceremony, a customary event inducting new students into the institution, will occur on the 10th of May, 2024.

After that, the University of Benin will organize an orientation session to introduce the school and its activities better to the new students, and the appropriate individuals will carry out this session on the 14th of May, 2024.

During the semester, the 17th and 18th of June, 2024 would be observed as a holiday to commemorate the El-del-Kabir celebration. It’s another way of promoting culture and religious beliefs, which is an ideal motto of the institution

Towards the end of the first semester, the University of Benin will allocate a specific period for revision. During this period, which will proceed from the 22nd of July 2024 till the 26th of July 2024, students can read, review, and cover their courses for the semester before their examination.

The first-semester examination for the 2023/2024 academic session will begin on the 29th of July 2024; this would be the first phase of the examination as it would start with faculties including Education, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, and Pharmacy.

Furthermore, the examination will continue in August with the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) examinations scheduled for the 3rd of August 2024, with other faculties, schools, and institutes examinations starting from the 5th of August 2024.

There will be two days (9th of August 2024 to 10th of August 2024) for students to complete their General Studies (GST) examination before proceeding to the end of the first-semester break.

 

Second Semester

According to the academic calendar, all students of the University of Benin are to resume the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic session on the 1st of September 2024.

Lectures are to resume on the 2nd of September 2024. In line with the usual academic schedule, students will be accorded a revision period from the 25th of November 2024 to the 29th of November 2024 to prepare adequately for their upcoming examinations.

The second-semester examination for the 2023/2024 session will start on the 3rd of December 2024 for faculties of Education, Engineering, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, and Physical Sciences.

The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development examination will begin on the 7th of December 2024, while examinations in other faculties, schools, and institutes will start on the 9th of December 2024.

The assessment process will end with a one-day General Studies examination on the 14th of December, 2024. After this, all students will embark on a well-deserved break to enable them to relax and recharge for the next session.
